June 15th 2016 Release Notes

Auctiva Johnnie ·
Hi Everyone! We've released a couple of little bug fixes. Here is a summary of the things we've released today: ACM-153 - USPS Tutorial on USPS Setup page is incorrect We noticed that the steps we provided to add USPS as an Integrated Shipping Carrier was out of date, so we have updated this information. ACM-277 - Resizing Store Logo (Store logos would not resize using the "Store Logo" widget) There was an issue with our Store Designer's "Store Logo" where some of our user were not able to...

Here is a suggestion to increase traffic on AC stores

Implement the shipping charge overwrite attribute for google merchant center feeds. I have many products that ship for free or a very small shipping charge, however, I can not show that in google product search. If I include the default carrier in google preferences my shipping charges look more expensive than really are or inaccurate. I do not know about other AC stores, but 75% of my visits come from Google product search. I know I could easily double the number of visits by showing...

Hey Chris! Mew Google requirements

Saw in the Auctiva newsletter today that as of Monday Google will require shipping and tax info for items in the Google feed. The newsletter foes on to say: "We'll add shipping information for all of the products in your feed, based upon the shipping methods and shipping zones assigned for each product, except for shipping methods that use integrated carriers (UPS, USPS, FedEx, CanadaPost). If a shipping method uses an integrated carrier it will not be included in the feed. We'll base tax...

How to create listing with diff ship & qty options - Not a Store

Hi. I'm trying to list an item thru Auctiva/Ebay using more than 1 quantity. I would like to have two shipping options. One for UPS Ground (Qty 1) and one for Freight (for more qty than 1). I see something about choosing/creating different warehouses but I don't think that's what I need. I did find something in my listing under Combined Shipping Discounts - checkmarked it. Note: I do NOT have a Store. I want both the UPS calculator and the Freight calculator for LTL shipments. Can I use...

I do not make my items but I give full descriptions of them and I do not take returns, normally. There are always exceptions but I don't advertise them and I listen to the buyer and go from there. When a buyer says they didn't receive the item, send another - I say hold up there lets track that package. If the carrier has failed to enter the package in the system with my delivery comformation - I put a trace on it anyway. At this point it is the post office's responsibility because they...

Canada Post Strike! US Sellers beware of Shipping to Canada

chickie ·
Hi all, There hasn't been much media attention on the potential (and probable) strike/lock-out of Canada Post postal workers set to begin as early as Tuesday May 24. This strike/lock-out will mean that there will be no national mail delivery of letters or parcels to Canadian addresses for the duration of the strike/lock-out. We ship using Canada Post so this is a major hiccup in our operations both for Canadian shipments as well as for US shipments that are delivered on the US side by USPS.

New shipping email template

I am happy to see the modifications to the email now able to show the shipping carrier and tracking numbers and links. The tutorial showing how to update your template is in error however as you have to enter the code in HTML. As a FYI the insert you need to place in your template has to read like this: " <p> Your package is being shipped by $order.CarrierName. #if($order.TrackingNumber!="")The Tracking Number is $order.TrackingNumber #end </p>" Hope this helps. Problems with Shipping - U.S. address selecting Canadian Shipping

dutchman48 is right. This is more suited for US-based sellers. I wonder if the shipping estimation works for foreign sellers. By the way, how do I change the currency? After I have setup a new currency and make it default, there is no changes. Too bad the base currency is USD. In this world we are living right now, there are stuff that we can share, especially the routine stuff. For example, the shipping rate. I wish there is a template that someone can create and share with everybody. I am...

Jasdad, After testing for longer hours, I have to say the beta is more flexible than I originally thought. We can change the unit of weight and unit of measurement. We can setup any shipping rate based on any carrier, e.g Canada Post, if you know their rate table. Unfortunately, we have to do it ourselves. I wish Auctiva will allow us to change the base currency though.

Re: Anyone have better postage rates than PayPal?

jim4754 ·
Here's the way I do it... I normally ship USPS Priory Mail through www.usps.com with Auctiva insurance on eBay items and pay with my PayPal debit which has a 1% cash back bonus. If the parcel is going First Class then I ship with PayPal multi-shipping, since it's only 18¢ for Delivery Confirmation. I've found Parcel Post to be the worst deal, since it takes longer, have to pay for Delivery Confimation and is sometimes most expensive than Priority Mail. I use Carrier Pickup through USPS and...

Re: Anyone have better postage rates than PayPal?

You must have first class or parcel post confused with priority. Priority is even MORE if you go to the post office not less, especially since you have to pay for delivery confirmation if you go in person. If you use PP or Click N Ship it's less expensive and even if it's 8 miles round trip, use the USPS carrier pickup and you come out ahead all the way around. I have post offices about 4 miles in each direction, but it's a heck of less of a hassle to have them pick up your packages. Again,...

The differences between post offices can be huge. When I lived in St. charles, IL, the post office hated seeing me. They hated dealing with all my packages. They wanted to weigh every single one to verify it's weight....and they still wouldn't scan the Delivery Confirmation Number. Then when I moved to Antioch, IL...which is much smaller, they are so sweet and patience, it's almost odd. And when I show up with 2 arms full of packages, they just tell me to set 'em on the counter, and leave.

Shipping from UK over 2kg

Does any UK user have a good answer for setting-up the shipping for overseas packets over 2kg? Royal Mail has a schedule of rates for Europe and rest-of-world up to 2kg which is easy. Without any direct integration, how can I set-up global rates without having to type in hundreds of lines (e.g. Parcel Force). Something you may not know about setting up integrated shipping carriers

If you make an error while setting up an integrated carrier with the user name that you are given, you have to delete it and start over. Why? Well because behind the scenes when you create the carrier and all the methods it somehow takes that number with you. If you just go in and edit the field and correct it, it doesn't correct it every place else and you will get no shipping methods available even after the fix. That being said, when you set it up with the USPS and they change it from the...

Suggestion on the Shipping Tab

gcornett ·
This is a minor thing, but would be nice to have. On the shipping tab, when I go to enter the tracking information, it would be nice to have a drop down box with the different carriers (USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc). I just use a fixed rate shipping method, so I don't have carriers preloaded for calculated shipping. Now, when I enter the tracking information, I add a comment in the comments box about which carrier I used, but would be quicker and easier to have a drop down field to select the carrier.

Re: using PayPal for shipping labels

Actually, this isn't true. You can pay and print your shipping labels through Paypal and leave your packages in the mailbox, or by your front door. I do it daily, and if I have a Priority Mail or International package I file a pickup request the night before. My mail carrier would gladly come down to our house daily (we live in the country and have a long driveway) if I have Priority Mail everyday.

I noticed you said Flat Rate but if you really mean Flat Rate according to the USPS definition..that is Priority Mail only using their Flat Rate Boxes. So, if you want other shipping choices then it is Fixed Rate. So I'm kind of assuming you mean different fixed rates. You will need to add a 'custom method' as shown below. Choose the Fixed Rate (this is a drop down box) and also chose your carrier (USPS if that's what you're using). You can name it whatever you chose for example Fixed Rate...
